Brief History of Kathak
-
The Persian Kings brought belly dancers with them, who danced beside the Indians. They learned from one another and a new dance form began to emerge as entertainment for Kings. In the last 200 years of this empire, the Kathak we know today was formed, with the help of a line of musicans and poets unequalled for their intricacy, refinement and virtuosity. Tabla and Pacawaj accompinied the dancers in increasingly intricate patterns.
